Alochrom or Alodine

What is Alochrom or Alodine?

These are chemical conversion coatings for aluminium that form a thin, protective film on the surface. Unlike electroplating, it doesn’t build up an additional layer — instead, it converts the aluminium’s surface to improve corrosion resistance while preserving electrical conductivity depending on the weight of the conversion.

Where Alochrom excels

Corrosion Protection

Provides excellent resistance to moisture and salt exposure.

Low Weight / Minimal Thickness

Adds almost no bulk or weight to components.

Conductive

Maintains good electrical conductivity, unlike some coatings.

Finish Options

Alochrom is gold in colour and is also available as Alochrom which is clear/slightly iridescent in appearance.

Good Base for Painting

Acts as a primer layer, helping paint or other coatings adhere better.

Eco & Safety Notes

Uses chromate chemistry, so environmental and health regulations may apply.
